If you want a balanced super simple dinner for a busy weeknight your kids will actually like and eat, this DIY Hamburger Helper is it. My oldest even asked for it as a snack this past weekend!

INGREDIENTS 

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 diced onion (optional)
  • 4 TBS tomato paste
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1 package elbow noodles
  • 1 TBS all purpose seasoning (I love Tony’s)
  • 6c beef stock or base
  • 2c cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Start with ground beef
  2. Once cooked and browned almost all the way through, add onions until soft
  3. Add tomato paste and stir until coated well
  4. Can add a can of diced tomatoes for flavor/texture (optional)
  5. Add beef base (I like a little extra)
  6. Fold in pasta until cooked
  7. Fold in cheese until gooey and creamy
